These half-hour sessions are specially designed for children under 4 years old, as well as any young child who would benefit from a gentle introduction to ponies. Little ones are softly introduced through grooming and quiet interaction before enjoying a calm, relaxed lead rein ride. With close guidance and parental support, they can build confidence, feel safe, and begin creating a meaningful connection with the pony at their own pace.

Learn essential stable management and horse care skills, including safe handling, grooming, tacking up, leading, and understanding horse behaviour. Sessions are designed to develop practical knowledge, confidence, and good horsemanship from the ground up, following the core principles of the BHS Stage 1 syllabus

EQUINE HARMONY EXPERIENCE

These 45-minute sessions offer a calm, inclusive, and holistic space for anyone who wishes to spend meaningful time with horses, regardless of age, ability, or experience. Designed for individuals with diverse needs, including sensory impairments, additional support requirements, or simply a desire for quiet connection, this experience welcomes everyone into a peaceful environment of presence and ease.

There is no riding involved. Instead, participants are invited to gently connect with the horse through grooming, quiet observation, soft interaction, and simply being together in a calm and unhurried way. Each session unfolds naturally at the individual’s own pace, allowing space for tranquillity, emotional grounding, and quiet reflection.

With a focus on safety, respect, and emotional wellbeing, the Equine Harmony Experience supports a gentle, intuitive bond between human and horse, offering a sense of peace, connection, and belonging in the present moment.

Scozia Horse Trekking offers people without horse access the chance to connect, learn and ride. Our philosophy is simple: horses are partners, not tools. Sessions focus on trust, confidence and harmony, with safety, welfare and enjoyment at the core. Whether exploring the Pentland Hills or improving your riding, every experience is calm, positive and rewarding for both horse and rider.

Each rider will be assessed before the activity, and must inform me of their riding level in advance. (Scozia is the Italian word for Scotland)

Crissie provides a fantastic trekking experience, and I can’t recommend Scozia highly enough. From the moment you arrive, it’s clear how much knowledge, care and respect she has for both her horses and her clients. She creates such a calm, supportive environment, explaining not just the riding but horse behaviour and handling too, which gives me so much confidence. The trek through the Pentlands is unforgettable, with amazing canters and a horse I feel a genuine connection with. I learn so much every time, never feel rushed, and leave feeling inspired and even more excited about my journey with horses.

Amazing hack in beautiful surroundings! I hacked today on the amazing Shadow who took great care of me on our scenic hack in the Pentlands. Crissie and her horses are lovely & I’d highly recommend them for an amazing hack experience.

My 4 y.o. had a pony as a friend session today for the first time in her life and it was an amazing experience! She got to brush the ponies, clear theirs hoofs, and of course ride the pony! It was such a great day for all the family, lots of happy memories for everyone! Looking forward to come back! Chrissie was an amazing instructor, she is very knowledgeable and friendly! We are very grateful!

We had a lovely riding lesson (“pony as a friend”) and would highly recommend it. Crissie included both me and my child throughout, making it an enjoyable and supportive experience for us both. She was very responsive to my child’s needs while also ensuring the pony’s welfare was always considered, which I really appreciated. This feels like a ‘riding school’ with a difference.

Having the opportunity to groom the smaller pony before riding was a wonderful addition. Not only did it introduce safety with the ponies, it helped my child become more comfortable and confident around the ponies and was a lovely, calming way to build a connection before getting in the saddle. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we’re looking forward to coming back.

My daughter had a lovely experience with Crissie and Raine her super-friendly pony. We did the 30 minute introduction session and I would recommend it to anyone looking to introduce their wee ones to riding.

We had the most amazing time doing the pony experience for my daughters 3rd birthday. Crissie was so friendly and welcoming. The ponies were so calm and clearly well looked after. Also loved the little Polaroid photos as a keepsake. Can’t recommend enough!! Thank you so much Crissie.
